Annual MOT Training- 2017-2018 Changes

Since the first year of annual MOT training came to an end in April, there have been a few changes.

Firstly, due to successful rates last year, the standards have been raised with the pass mark being increased from 50% last year to 60% for the year 2017-2018. This pass mark is likely to increase to 80% over the coming years.

Secondly, new topics have been introduced-

-For class 1 and 2 vehicles (motorcycles), the syllabus covers:

  • Body and structure (including security)
  • Assessment of tyres and wheels

-For class 3, 4, 5 and 7 vehicles (cars and other vehicles), the syllabus covers:

  • Assessment of tyres and wheels
  • Corrosion assessment (includes assessment of brake pipes)

All training for these topics need to be recorded and any certificates should be kept as evidence.

Thirdly, DVSA has listened to feedback and made a few changes:

  1. The questions will be clearer and all questions will be checked thoroughly before being included in the annual assessment.
  2. More feedback will be provided to aid improvement.
  3. The new way of training allows you to keep up to date with MOT changes, regularly assess the standard of the industry and quickly address any problems that arise.

Here at The Test Centre Training, we provide annual assessment training with a certificate on completion for you to enter onto the MOT Testing Service. For more information on the annual assessment, contact us on 020 8692 5555.
