How to remain compliant
-A minimum of 3 hours training must be completed every year. Over a 5 year period, 16 hours must be completed, which means that in 1 year of the 5, 4 hours training is needed to be completed.
-All training should be recorded
-You MUST record your assessment results on the MOT Testing System to ensure that you are not suspended on the 1st April
Changes to Annual Training & Assessment
Recent changes have meant that the pass mark has increased from 50% to 60% for the year 2017-2018 and now 70% for 2018-2019. This is likely to increase to 80% in the coming years. Read more about the changes to MOT annual training here.
Who is required to complete the annual training and assessment?
Existing and qualified MOT testers must complete annual training and pass an MOT annual assessment between April and March every year to remain compliant and avoid being suspended from testing.
NB: Newly qualified MOT testers (passing after 1 April 2018) do not need to start training until 1 April 2019.
