Existing and qualified MOT testers must complete annual training and pass an MOT annual assessment between April and March every year to remain compliant and avoid being suspended from testing. This includes:
-A minimum of 3 hours training must be completed every year. Over a 5 year period, 16 hours must be completed. Hence 1 year of your 5 must include 4 hours of training.
-All training should be recorded
-You MUST record your assessment results on the MOT Testing System to ensure that you are not suspended on the 1st April
NB: Newly qualified MOT testers (passing after 1 April 2019) do not need to start training until 1 April 2020.
Changes to Annual Training & Assessment
Over the passed few years, the pass mark has increased, 50% to 60% for the year 2017-2018 and now 70% for 2018-2019, this has increased again for 2019-2020. For more information on keeping compliant, please visit the DVSA – Annual Assesment
