MOT Connected Equipment regulations apply to Gas Analysers & Smoke Meters from 1 May 2021
The rules apply to companies testing or planning to test Classes 4, 5, and 7 under the following circumstances:
Opening a new MOT centre
Reopening a closed MOT centre
Changing ownership
Replacing emissions testing equipment
This means that anyone starting a new MOT Station or taking over an existing business will now require connected emissions in addition to a connected roller brake tester and a connected decelerometer.
The last item on the list for a fully connected test lane is a digital headlamp aim tester.
This is likely to be a little way off still as the DVSA has yet to provide the final product specifications to manufacturers.
